The situation

Jonathan was building his pitch into the legal industry. Weeks of research. A tight value proposition. Stats, numbers, one-pagers, a landing page. The whole package.

And it still wasn't landing.

"I was so deep in the project I couldn't see it anymore."

That's the problem with expertise. The more you know, the harder it gets to explain it simply. You start justifying. Adding context. Stacking proof. And suddenly your page is doing too much and saying nothing.

He knew what it should feel like. He just couldn't get it there.

"You know what it should feel like and look like. It's in your head. And you're trying with words, you're trying with tools, and at some point tools and AI have their limit. You need to bounce it off someone who's not in your head and has nothing attached to it emotionally."

What happened

Jonathan sent it to me. I looked at it cold. No attachment, no ego in it. My first reaction was basically: what's the thing? Just tell me the thing.

So we worked through it. I didn't rewrite it for him. I asked questions. What if you tried this angle? What happens if you cut that? What does a lawyer actually need to feel in the first five seconds?

Four iterations. One day.

"Every time you said it's not quite there yet, I was like, okay, fine. There's more to do. And every time we did it, I felt like we were getting closer."

The result

By the end, he had something sharper than anything he'd started with. And he said he felt like he'd arrived at the solution himself. Because he did. I just asked the right questions to get him there.
